We finally finished up DA’s bed. It turned out to be one of our favorite pieces so far. The pictures we have do not show the figure and amazing grain as vivid as it is. I’ve been asked a few specifics on the bed. It is a queen size platform bed constructed with curly cherry, black walnut, soft maple, sycamore, and flame maple. We finished the bed with 8 coats of hand applied oil / varnish blend to really bring out the figure.

Here are some in progress shots of the current bed we are building. This makes the third bed in the last six months. The bed is built with some really nice figured cherry with a stripe of maple as an accent. The base is solid walnut. The bed is shown in a dri – fit stage allowing us to tweak the headboard design a bit. Stay tuned.

Here are some photos of the Fold Furniture Line we recently completed for our clients in Wichita. The series consist of a media center, coffee table, and end table. Constructed with solid Walnut and solid Maple. More photos of the shoot will be posted in a few days. We felt it was necessary to test out the bar with the clients.

Another office of custom furniture we built for Jose Bautista at SBMAC. Simlar in construction technique and material to DA’s desk. We were originally challenged to designing office furniture to compliment a classic Eames 670 Lounge Chair and Ottoman. The concept of the chair was abstracted and a series of wooden boxes was bolted to metal framework. All metal work was provided by Heckert Sheet Metal. The metal finish is a combination of powder coating and a simple Linseed Oil Finish. One interested feature is the hidden licquor cabinet accessed by touch latch for the times when a celebration is in order.
