Due to large cutting board demand Studiobuild has a newly formed Etsy Shop. Last week we finished up another batch of 30 cutting boards. Demand is high so I imagine these will sell out in a hurry. Most people requested larger cutting boards this time around so we had to bump the pricing up a bit to compensate.
We also had an intern for the week. Logan hails from Florida and is interested in architecture, he visited all week with hopes of learning a thing or two about the profession. A week later he learned that we aren’t really architects, we build more things than we draw, and that cutting boards require a lot more work than you would think.

We finally finished up DA’s bed. It turned out to be one of our favorite pieces so far. The pictures we have do not show the figure and amazing grain as vivid as it is. I’ve been asked a few specifics on the bed. It is a queen size platform bed constructed with curly cherry, black walnut, soft maple, sycamore, and flame maple. We finished the bed with 8 coats of hand applied oil / varnish blend to really bring out the figure.

Studiobuild recently built a series of cutting boards for Mothers Day Gifts. Our initial run was successful and we sold all 25 in a matter of hours to family and friends. Today Apartment Therapy’s sister site The Kitchen picked up our work and the remaining boards are selling like crazy. Our cutting boards are made from the scrap wood our furniture shop produces. Species vary considerable and 90% of the wood is locally harvested hardwoods. Some exotic woods make it into the pile and ultimately end up in a cutting board or two but its mostly as an accent. Our cutting boards are individually unique since we make them using the scrap we have at the time. Our cutting boards range in price from $20 – $50 ( and up for custom large boards ) plus shipping. We do offer bulk discounts if you want to purchase them to give as gifts.
Here is a picture of the boards still available.

Some shots of the boards we made last week. Sorry folks these have sold.

Introducing the Dionysus Collection of outdoor furnishings by Studiobuild. While struggling for a name for our series of outdoor furniture we had a brief moment of clarity , probably a direct influence of the Boulevard Pilsner we were enjoying. The Dionysus Collection named for the Greek god of wine and drunken revelry, fitting if you’ve ever enjoyed an extended happy hour with the Studiobuild crew.
The Table & Bench are our modern take on the traditional picnic table. We have a stash of reclaimed heart pine and recycled mahogany that will allow durable table that will hold up to the elements. The powdercoated metal panels are available in many colors to accent your patio. Constructed with tenon joinery and stainless fasteners to ensure our set will hold up to years of abuse.
Starting at $1200 for the set. Finish options are available.

Thanks to Jaclyn Turner for the 3d renderings.

Help support the Studiobuild stimulus package by taking part in our Scrap to Cash program. As we build our other furniture projects we end up with a ton of scrap wood in all kinds of species so rather than let that wood go to waste we try and come up with little projects to use it up. If you have any ideas feel free to email us.
