After a lot of sweat and a few smashed toes the two chimneys at Dwelling 3918 have been eradicated. The stone and mortar was in much worse shape than we had imagined, the jackhammer was not used as much as planned we pretty much lifted the stones off one by one. Several of them were completely fractured and fell apart. This week we do some structural bracing and prepare the house for the removal of the back wall. Tension is building amongst all of us curious how its going to go, is it going to fall apart like the chimney or is it going to require constant hammering for a few weeks. At this point your guess is as good as ours, I’m just looking foward to the challenge. Wish us luck.

We are working away on 3918, I’ll be posting some design images soon of what we plan on doing with the place. In the meantime here are some pictures of the interior of the house as it currently looks. The first floor shots look move in ready, they fail to show how uneven the floors are. Some significant issues have come up with the existing structure, mostly how the first builder failed to install load bearing columns in the proper places leading to some severely sagging floors.

The second floor photo’s have some great character. I can’t wait to rip that plaster out and see whats behind it.

The third floor is huge and is going to remain largely open, making a few modern interventions is in the cards. That large tank you see is the original water tank for the house, or thats our best guess.

Here are some photos of the Fold Furniture Line we recently completed for our clients in Wichita. The series consist of a media center, coffee table, and end table. Constructed with solid Walnut and solid Maple. More photos of the shoot will be posted in a few days. We felt it was necessary to test out the bar with the clients.

A trip last week to wrap up the details in Wichita. The project is 95% percent done. The clients decided to go ahead and have me build the upper wall cabinet now, we had postponed this portion of the project due to the budget but now that all the numbers are in I have the go ahead to build and install it. Here are some pics more to follow once the room is furnished. More photos available on my flickr site.
